“PROTECT 340B DRUG PRICING PROGRAM”
340B Saves Lives
Chicago, Illinois, February 1, 2026– Groups of Illinois State-Wide Leaders, Legislators, Hospitals, Patients, Healthcare Employees and Friends will convene to advocate, raise awareness, shape policy discussions, and rally communities around the need to protect the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
Millions of patients rely on the 340B Drug pricing Program across the United States. These programs enable providers like Community Health Partnership of Illinois (CHP), that serve vulnerable patient populations to access outpatient drugs at significantly lower cost, which helps improve overall patient care.
In 1992, Congress enacted the 340B program, requiring drug manufacturers to provide discounted outpatient drug to eligible community health centers. The program allows community health centers to pass these savings on to underserved population. (HRSA.gov)
Dr. Eleace Sawyers, CHP of Illinois President & CEO, highlighted the importance of 340B: “The ability to offer discounted medications through 340B is central to all health centers. Without it, many of our low-income and uninsured patients would have to choose between their health and other household expenses. 340B savings are critical for funding uncompensated care, ensuring patient access to affordable, life-saving medications, and improving the overall health of our communities. The program ensures that we can reach more eligible patients and provide more comprehensive services, which is a true game-changer for public health.”
Today the program is facing some challenges and your support is needed. One of many ways to save the 340B program is to join an advocacy group, advocating for legislation like the “PROTECT 340B Act”.
